For moms who had PPD. What kinda of medicine did your Dr provide you?? Did it kill your sex drive?

I was given a handful of different medicines. The first one was Effexor, and that made things much worse. I don’t remember what the other couples ones were, I know one was lamictal, but I just wasn’t interested in sex at all when I was going through my PPD honestly

@elise305, I stopped taking medications when I got pregnant with my second son, and I haven’t really cared to go back on my medicine. I haven’t been feeling down since having my second son. So I didn’t feel the need, but I’m seeing a counselor 1-2 times a month. So that definitely helps. Are you on any meds at the moment?

@kristenmarie oh gotcha!!! No I'm on no medicine. I need to find a therapist !! I hear that is good. I'm just so fearful of the PPD coming back once I have my son.....

@elise305, I was SO terrified mine would come back to, I was borderline psychosis, so when I found out I was pregnant the second time I was scared. I feel like I went through a week of the baby blues, but honestly. I’m actually able to bond with my youngest, I was never able to with my oldest because I was just so mentally gone. I feel guilty because of it, but the good thing is he’ll never remember how low I was at that point.

@elise305, but definitely look for a counselor!! It helps so much, I’ve been seeing mine since my oldest was 6 months old and It’s so nice to talk to someone that isn’t my boyfriend or mom

My doctor prescribed me a low dose of Zoloft (generic name Sertraline). It helped immensely.

@scruffy.nerf.herder did it make you gain weight?? How was your sex drive ?

No weight gain, and I don't think there was any effect on my libido. I did gain weight after having my gallbladder out, but that was after discontinuing the Zoloft
