I suggest refraining from intercourse moving forward until your doctor clears you (most likely at your six week checkup). At 4 weeks pp you still have a wound healing in your uterus where the placenta was attached that is more prone to infection.
Hopefully everything is fine this time, but please weigh the potential risks. You may be worried about a subsequent pregnancy so soon after giving birth, but there are worse consequences to consider.
