I just got an email from my RE’s nurse. She said that I can switch to Endometrin (progesterone suppositories) on 7/1 and continue until 7/21. She said I can continue the PIO until 7/21 if I’d rather do that than the suppositories. My question is - I will only be 10 weeks on 7/21. I thought you were supposed to take progesterone throughout the first trimester. Is that too soon?!
I’ve been on PIO since the 24th of May (5days before transfer)2ccs a day, will go down to to 1cc on July 11th, the stop all together July 18th.
I started Endometrin after a positive beta 2 times a day since June 10th, I’ll go down to 1 on July 11th and stop July 18th
So I’ll be 10 weeks exactly when I stop
I think I’m going to stay with the PIO. I hated the suppositories because of the mess. I’ve gotten used to the shots and I’d rather have butt pain than the mess! My nurse told me that they have us start with PIO because it’s more effective (they had to stop a research study short because it was showing over a 30% difference).
You know, I’m curious as what is better? I personally would like to ask if I could just use PIO exclusively like some of you ladies did. I hate the suppositories. And if you ever want to get busy with your DH, it might make him moody! My DH is allergic and breaks out in tiny pimples all over his back and neck. So weird. So something to think about! I’m not sure what the differences are in cost though? What are you going with Kim?
@kimberly810, they only wanted me to stay on until 10 weeks . I had some left over so I asked if I could take it longer and they said it wasn’t necessary but I could if i wanted . The placenta takes over making progesterone at about 8 or 10 weeks so that’s why.
@kimberly810, how are you feeling ?
