So I'm at crossroads. My birth control (depo provera) is causing me all kinds of problems, the side effects are insane. Crazy mood swings, no sex drive, hot flashes, weight gain, killer migraines, just to name a few. But if I get off, I have to deal with my period which usually consist of excessive of amounts of blood, intense cramping, vomiting, diarrhea, migraines, and aching body. Any advice cause I seriously don't know what to do. And I've heard other birth controls are just as bad
@qwiona, you can leave it in for four weeks at a time and just change it every four weeks and you won’t have a period. But it’s not good to go without having a period for long periods of time.
It's gotten better they use to be 14 days and heavy and painful then I got one that was 6 days light to medium but not very painful but pregnant again so I didn't get another ( sorry phone deleted my comment on accident!)
Sorry it's not best example but everyone body Works a little different c:
@davidj66 have your periods gotten worse or would you say they're normal now?
I was on depo for 3 years it caused me so many issues it got to point it hurt to have sex and I was on it cause I didn't want periods cause I have endometriosis. But from personal perspective I prefer being off that crap. I was told I would have issues getting pregnant but now I have 4 month old and one on way (didn't use any birth control) but it took a year after getting off to be able to. Alot of other birth controls change or help your period I've been told just do what you think is best for you. After my experiences with depo and pill I completely stopped using birth control .
@spookylyn when I was on depoprovera before my pregnancy, I didn't have any side effects either but after my pregnancy getting back on it, it's like the side effects just came whooshing in. So I feel like my body has changed to where now I'll probably get the side effects of whatever I try. I know that sounds a little crazy but that's what I feel like.
@masseymomma16 I might just go with that. I'm no good with pills either so that's not an option for me either
@qwiona, never had a bacterial infection. I never had side effects either or atleast not bad enough to complain. I got pregnant my 4th month off nuvaring. I'm terrible with pills so it was perfect for me!
@spookylyn what form is that in? Does it stop your period? And what were your side effects if you had any ?
@masseymomma16 I was got off for a while and it took me a year to get pregnant. 1 year exactly I think. But the nuvaring never caused any bacterial infections or anything like that? I've heard it does
I used the nuvaring for 5 years, never had an issue. You can keep it in to where you don't get a period or remove it for a week to have one.
I've heard depo is one of the worst. Causes long lasting fertility issues, some gain 50lbs or more and just overall bad side effects. I would personally switch birth control.
@damn.it.red did you still have a period? And I heard that you get an infection that really never goes away
@qwiona if you do good luck hopefully things go good and how you would like it to be just be careful not to get pregnant if you don't want to lol!
