Can someone explain this to me I'm so confused I had it with my youngest but never really asked question anyway I got my blood results back from.my midwife at my booking appointment and I have "anti m" antibodies in my blood and they said they will keep monitoring my blood and that they will check my baby when he/she is born by taking blood from the cord and if so baby would need a blood transfusion why would this be does anyone have any idea a can't remember what it all means and why's have it 🙈

@rebecca2330 oh I'm not sure then.... I know if your negative it can be dangerous to have anti bodies xxx

@abbyrose they haven't said its dangerous just I need routine blood work and when baby is born blood taken from the cord and a blood transfusion will be on stand by for the baby or me 🙈 xxx

In summary, anti-M antibody is an uncommon cause of hemolytic disease of the newborn. When anti-M, IgG optimally reactive at 37 degrees C, is identified in the maternal blood, the paternal blood must be checked for the presence of M antigen. If the father has M antigen the fetus may be at risk.
