Just venting...
I don't do toy weapons, not in my home or anywhere my daughter goes. When my daughter goes to any of my friend/family's houses they know she isn't allowed to play with them. Sorry if this is too much for some to handle. I am progun and was born and raised in a conservative, farming/hunting family, however my 15 year old brother (who already had a 9 monrh old son) was shot and killed by kids "playing with guns" and my children will never think weapons are for play, they will KNOW about safety.

We were raised with guns and a big hunting family but guns were not allowed out when friends were over and even if you were playing you don’t point them at each other. So sorry about your brother.
@shelby.wrightx3 Oh lort. Lol. That's a scary thought 😂 I get nervous around my nephews that are in their teens when they're messing their guns. I probably wouldn't be so scared or wary if I didn't have the history that I do, though.
@wheelercharle4, who cares what she thinks.. rather you be a tyrant than your kid injuring or killing someone else or them hurting or killing them self by mistake. I don’t have children yet.. I’m having a boy in August and my father was talking about buying him a gun for Christmas.. a REAL gun.. his words were “he can’t have it until he’s 5” and I’m like sorry dad.. and they think I’m nuts too but come on?! 5 years old?!
A lot of parents do that and I don’t see anything wrong with that. Although in my household we have guns because my SO and I go shooting at the range and of course we have guns for protection. We plan on educating our child and making sure she knows all about guns and what it does because we know that one of the problems is that children get curious and if they don’t know, God forbid, an accident. I would honestly do that too if we didn’t have guns but my SO loves it too much to get rid of his guns.

@shelby.wrightx3 exactly, and in a child's eyes that stuff all looks real. My nephew is obsessed with pocket knives and swords, which I get it they are cool but they aren't toys and a 7 year old shouldn't be playing with them period. My sis thinks I'm a tyrant but accidents happen. Period.

I don’t blame you one bit. At Christmas at my grandmas my cousins boy had a knife.. it ended up being plastic but he was chasing the other little kids around with it and when my husband saw it he flipped out for good reason. It looked like the real thing and we already feel strange about the boy.
