I hate the things my sons grandma pulls.. Its my weekend with the kids and she made them haircut appts which fine cool if they wanna go they can go. Well my oldest has a baseball game today and he wouldve missed it had he gone with her.. He didnt wanna miss so he told her he didnt wannna go. That should have been end of story right.. Wrong. She threw a huge temper tantrum and got all pissed at me saying im coaching him to not go when i specifically said infront of her that i think he should get his hair cut but its entirely up to him on what he wants to do. So because he didnt want togo with her then she started telling him shes not gonna get him his new baseball pants she promised to and told him "fine if you want your hair to look ugly when we go to texas whatever"
I hate the crap she pulls. She never allows the kids to express their feeling without guilting them into agreeing with her instead of doing what they want. Shes gonna ruin the relationship she has with them by not allowing them to make their own decisions without her getting mad

@natcasey9 and yes shes very manipulative and my oldest is starting to push away from her because of it. Hes usually afraid to tell her anything because of her fits she throws but ikeep telling him that its okay to say what you want and dont want to her just like you do me

Even with her having visitation, I wouldn't allow someone else making appointments of any kind for my child. I know it's a hair cut but it's up to the child and their parents.

Allow them to see her act the way she does so they can form their own opinion. Kids are smarter than we like to give them credit for! She shouldn’t be making an appointments on your weekend, so if it happens again, just let her know that she should cancel and reschedule during her weekend because you are capable of getting their haircuts take care of.

@brookehayes585, I totally agree. Yeah sure the grandparents may have visitation but those are your kids!! You decided when your kids hair gets cut or not. Especially when she’s making it on your time. I wouldn’t let that keep happening.

@brookehayes585 i could honestly care less about hair cuts cuz the boys always get their hair cut the same way and always have since they were young just makes it one less expense that comes out of my pocket ( i dont get any child support. Or anything for them) like i likethe help with it if that makes sense but she shouldve not done it on my weekend and she also shouldnt be making my son feel like shit for not wanting to go with her.. Pretty much as soon as she left i took my son to a differnt salon and got his hair cut so i was able to show him that her having a fit because he didnt want to go with her isnt a big deal and he shouldnt feel guilted into doing something he doesnt want to do

@mom4m then I would just make her understand that make the appointments on her weekends or to at least check with you on your weekend if the boys have something going on. Its a respect thing and she doesn't have respect for your time so make her understand and even tell her how she makes the boys feel when they decide not to go with her is unacceptable..
I don't really know how it all works cause my 2 kids bio dad left and my husband adopted them, and I cut my sons hair and even my stepsons hair (his mom likes me cutting his hair cause it's less money we all spend) I do take my.oldest daughter to a salon and my youngest is almost 2 but hasn't had a hair cut yet cause her hair grows slow and will also go to a salon.
