@allycat514, I only needed my and SO driver’s license to prove who we where for the birth certificate and for a social security card all you have to do is fill out the paperwork they give you at the hospital

The hospital usually wants the name of the pediatrician anyway, but I don't remember having to give any special identification for the birth certificate and SS. Probably too drugged and tired to remember properly, haha. You do need your ID for the hospital though, so that's probably all you need. That's all I brought, at least.

I picked ours two weeks before he was born, but it never hurts to look early. Not every pediatrician does rounds at your hospital, so you'll want to check that too, but they should ask when you call. Some even let you visit the office and speak with the doctor beforehand. Also if you're planning daycare, I'd start looking for that now too. Even if you're taking a long maternity leave, daycares tend to fill up quickly and you'll want to get on a list.
