Ladies, need your opinion! At what point do you buy all the babies stuff? My OH is extremely against…

You'd at least have to have some clothes for the baby hun. Have them washed in non bio. Once the baby is born you'd have to dress him/her. Nappies.

I suppose everything else he can get after but he'd end up loads and loads of money in one go. But if he's happy doing that then that's fine. Just a couple of baby vests and baby grows ready. That's my opinion.

On the other hand. I absolutely loved going baby shopping and getting ready for the birth but each to their own 😊😊

I absolutely agree, if it was just my decision - I’d go baby shopping way before the birth 🙈 but if it makes my OH less worrying I don't mind to sacrifice the pleasure of baby shopping 😊 xx

Babies don't need much so some things could definitely be bought after. But some things you will need for when baby arrives. Clothes, nappies, somewhere to sleep. Crib, moses basket etc. Bedsheets and blankets. I don't believe your oh even if given a list will be able to go out and buy, get home, wash/dry and put together before you get home. He'd end up in a panic trying to do it all in one day when you could take your time now.

You can both compromise. Have a list of things you will need ready for when baby comes and a list of things you can buy once babies here. Example you will need a car seat because they won't let you leave the hospital without one. Or a pushchair if your walking. Its not realistic for your oh to go out and buy everything by himself while your in hospital. He'll end up in a panic then I can tell you now! Lol

Also it is your decsion together. I would not let my husband dictate to me what I could and couldn't buy.

Sorry but when is he planning on buying the stuff when youre in labour? Or just after the baby is born? Youll need essentials for the baby like nappies and clothes. Personally i would get it before because i like to be prepared and enjoyed doing everything with my other half xx

I agree with other lady's... it's not just his decision to make... you are a team/partnership, so it can't be all one person's way. I understand the error on caution side... but do you know what even after 3 mc we have still went and got most of what my baby will need in already. How can he possibley enjoy the birth of his child if he is having to run around and try get everything needed for a baby in a few hours! Couldn't think of anything worse tbh. Surely we will want to be with you and baby bonding rather than stressing. Also there is the issue of him then picking random stuff rather than stuff you have picked together? What if you don't like what he buys?

Also there is something to be said about buying some second hand items to save money as baby's are not In them long.

Sounds like you might already be worrying about this? Why don't you tell him you will compromise with him and get needed items now and save for other items for after birth. Xxx

You'll definatley need some essentials for your hospital bag for baby and then somewhere for the baby to sleep. You can download baby lists online that say whwn you'll need what so maybe compromise and get the essentials now and then the rest after.

You'll also have a newborn so most people like to be organised beforehand so you can both enjoy time with baby straight away and not have to rush out buying stuff.

I'd say buy before if you can as you can shop around and find deals, but just going out on a whim might lead to panic buying and extra expense.

I'd definitely buy essential at first at least like nappys clothes cotton wool hats car seat as they won't let you leave the hospital without one x @sashago

We are only buying the essentials nothing fancy. If we need anything more we will buy. I hear a lot of mummy’s say they bought things and never used
