water birth?
So I was looking at my hospitals website and I saw something about offering water births there. I've always been interested in it. With my first, he came early but I had been in the bath tube for a good amount of time due to back labor and it was the only thing to help me relax until I was able to get an epidural. I'm kind of consider a water birth sense I know how relaxing it was for me even with back labor. Lol. Does anyone want to give me some details about it? Especially if they've had a water birth? Did you get any kind of medication for pain? How does it exactly work?

It will probably depend on where you live at.
I think here with the few places that do allow water birth they will allow you to labour in the water, but do not allow you to give birth in the water. Hell, you can have a home birth, but currently cannot have a doctor or midwife present to help with birth as that’s illegal.
So I would call the hospital you plan to birth at and discuss with them and then also with the doctor or midwife you see.

My hospital allows to birth in water or be in the water during active labor. So they do both! I was hoping for birthing in water as I think that would be an amazing experience. If not then I would still like to have active labor in water.

Most hospitals offer tubs but just for labor. My last two were home water births and we’re currently planning our third. I had back labor with all of my labors, but the water helped tremendously. I had no meds, no iv, no nothing, just my midwife by my side monitoring me and baby. I would only do a waterbirth with a midwife with tons of water birth experience. My last baby was my midwifes 500th water birth. Look into it! I wouldn’t birth any other way!

I’m jealous of that! lol I would ask them what kind of pain medication they tend to do for it. I’m so clueless. I’m contemplating a home birth with no help because I hate hospitals
I hope some ladies here can give you advice because it’s some I love reading too

I've actually been researching water births. Most people say that they didn't use pain medicine bc the water relaxed them. Some also use essential oils that are good for stress relief and relaxation.

I had a water birth with my first born, it was a MUCH easier/more relaxed birth than with my second. I started labouring in the pool, but came out part way through then went back in for delivery. Will be hoping for a water birth for our 3rd baby!
