I'm still trying to get a feel for this app but are there any STAHM here?
@mulatto_mama
We are very fortunate to have a nice big yard and few neighbors. Dd loves to play in dirt and I enjoy spalraying her with the hose to get her giggling and shrieking with joy. She is too cute. Sorry you have to live in the city. It's def not my cup of tea. I live too close to town for my comfort as is and some say we live too far away. Happy we can walk down our road without much worry. My sweet girl loves books! She is almost 2.5 so you will get there soon! Just keep reading to her. Sounds like you are an amazing mom!!! Keep up the great job. Well, finally got baby to sleep and big girl is with Grandma so off to chores and homework I go. Have a great day!!!
@xryztalroze . We have a TON of books for my dd but she likes to rip them and doesnt quite get how to take care of them yet. It breaks my heart when I hear a page rip because I love books so much. So we tried the tablet which is pretty much indestructible. Dollar Tree is my favorite. So many awesome things to find. We live in the city now and I dont want her outside much. We go to the playground close by but then we come home. I miss the country where she can run barefoot and get dirty.
Thank you for the ideas. My DD doesn't is technology yet which is nice because she loves books and isn't addicted to the screen but I like the idea idea of getting her a tablet soon for learning. I'll be going to the Dollar Tree tomorrow to take a look to see if they have flashcards. Thank you for the idea. We do play with puzzles that help her identify different objects and animals, ABC's, etc. I am also quite country and my diaghter is very much an outdoor baby. Unfortunately we are inside more than we want to be because of the baby and weather here. Once fall hits we will be outside nonstop and through the winter. So happy to have someone who can relate to where I am in life at the moment. 🙂
@xryztalroze . I have been working or school or both since 16. When I found out I was pregnant, I moved to a new city (country girl) and have been home ever since. My girl LOVES music. So we do a lot of nursery rhymes and sing a longs. She loves her tablet that has a lot of the Fischer Price Learn and Play activities on it that we work on together. I also go to the dollar store and get flash cards, memory games and things like go fish for her. I also have styrofoam letters and numbers that I found at the dollar store. We work on small things like identifying them. Same with fridge magnets. I thought about homeschooling but I'm not sure it'll fit for us. But we still have a little time to figure it out. As far as jobs for sahm, I tried selling Usborne Books but my network wasn't big enough to make a long term profit from. My kid is in a stage where if she sees me on the phone, she needs to have it or start "singing" so being a call representative is also out lol I'm not crafty enough to sell stuff on etsy. So I'm still looking.
@mulatto_mama
You may not be contributing financially but if you are taking good care of your baby and household you are absolutely contributing and probably far more than you know. I can understand the "not enough" part though from a financial point of view. I can tell you that missing a paycheck is well worth being home with my girls, but boy would the extra income help! I'm 35 and had been working since I was 8 odd and end jobs such as lawncare, babysitting, house cleaning, etc and have been in the workforce since I was 16. So it has been a complete "cultural shock" for me to be off so long from work. What kinda of activities do you do with you little girl? My two year old dd is very independent but I need to start doing more constructive things with her. Any ideas? I plan to homeschool but am not sure if it's going to work out as planned. I think I worry too much sometimes but then I figure that's part of a mother's "job description". Please let me know of you find anything for sahm's to do from home because I don't even know where to start in the way of a search. 🙂 And keep up the great job. I'm sure your baby is very sweet and she is blessed to have you.
@xryztalroze My biggest issue being at home is that I dont contribute enough and I'm trying to find work from home opportunities. But I do get lonely sometimes. Most of my day is talking to a 19 month old and my husband works usually 15 hours a day so.... But I'm 26
Hey Ladies. Been MIA, but on tonight for a few minutes. I'm enjoying being home with my babies but do miss having at least occasion adult interaction beyond just doctor's appointments and random strangers while getting groceries. I don't know if I will be going back to work and I must weigh the pros and cons. Once I quit my career there's no going back. How are y'all doing with being at home?
And, if you don't mind my asking, how old is everyone?
I'm 35 atm.
@mulatto_mama, no I don’t. I would like to have the extra income but there’s no way I could keep up with work with the kids here.
@austinsmommy I haven't been on Etsy in FOREVER. I found myself buying too much and had to take a break lol
@mulatto_mama, lol, Awh! ☺️ I wish I could have continued bf B. :/ & Yeah, I moved here in NY 2 years ago with just my Keeshond, met my SO last May, and apparently conceived little Bellamy the following month. 🤷🏻♀️😅
@miaheka You sound like me but mine is older. Almost 2. She's breastfed so I have NO privacy or alone time lol She's a daddy's girl but she wants my boobs to access at any time lol
@austinsmommy Ooooo what do you sell? I wish I had the energy to do something creative like that. I do crafts with my kiddo and call it a day lol
@mulatto_mama, Not really. Bellamy is only 3 months old, so he pretty much takes up all of my time. Even when my SO is home, he tries to let me rest/take a break, but that doesn’t happen much because little man always wants to be with me. 🤷🏻♀️😅 I don’t really know the area I live in, or anyone here and I’m not comfortable taking B. to the city at such a young age, so I’m pretty much at home with him all day, every day. 😅
@michellemybell09 Being a stay at home mom isn't easy at all. But so worth it! 💜
I want to do that but with all the horror stories about daycares now, I'm afraid to. Especially in an area like Baltimore City. And childcare is so expensive 🤦🏽 I have a little bit of time to think on that though. Hopefully we'll move to Lancaster County before that time comes so I will feel more comfortable with the school environment.
@mulatto_mama, no he goes to a school. But it more like a daycare almost. It’s the Malvern School. It’s in pa. They have several locations around us and they are a very well known good school. They do basic things. I started both my boys at school at 3 years old to get the socialization they wouldn’t get at home that much.
@ss3mom mine isn't quite 2 yet so I have a while to go yet. So you opted to do home school instead of sending to pre school? What do you cover in "school"? Sorry so many questions 🤗
@mulatto_mama, I’ve been a sahm for almost 6 years now. My son is about to go into kindergarten. I have another son that will be 4 in September. So I’ll be home with him. He will go to “school” 3 days a week for 4 hours a day.
@cmjohnson3047 Well we're friends now lol You can talk to me. As far as nothing around you to do, I can't help you there lol You just have to get creative and work with what you got. Nature is a good educational opportunity? 🤷🏽
@mulatto_mama yup i have like nooooo friends around me or a park that i can walk to. Im in the country
@cmjohnson3047 And it doesn't help that I'm on my own in the city, when I'm a born and raised country girl. Just my husband and his mom is nearby. Friends disappear when you become a mom. That's why I found a mom chat app. I need mom friends who get it 💜
@mulatto_mama EXACTLY i feel like im having trouble finding who i am anymore
@cmjohnson3047 Oh no no no! I completely get what you're saying, love. I got pregnant not long after I got my degree and before I could start my career. I'm itching to go back. I love the time I have with my daughter but I feel like I'm losing my own identity. I'm just her mom or his wife. 🤦🏽
That sound so selfish.... sorry. I didnt mean it like that my kids are my life and theyre totally worth everything ive given up
@mulatto_mama nope i dont work at all, been a sahm for 3 years and i can feel u 110% on having cabin fever there are days where i dont even get to leave the house because we only have one car right now.... i love being a sahm cuz i can maintain the house and take care of the kids and be here for them but i hate not having a social life and making ny own money cuz i gave up my career for this
@mulatto_mama, I hear ya - daycare is sooooo expensive! That was another determining factor for us. We really didn't want to pay for two kids in daycare. I really hope things work out the way you want them to. Best of luck to you!
@denise1493 heyyyyy! 😍 I found out I was preggo and moved to Baltimore with my now-husband when I was 4 months along. I've been in the house ever since lol Closest family is my MIL who lives in the same building 😒 My family lives at least 2 hours away in either direction so I'm pretty much on my own
@dazzlingmommy That would be awesome! I've been searching for a work from home job but its impossible to find something that fits
@mulatto_mama, lol I do love it!
I don’t work from home but I am in school. My ultimate goal is to get a work from home job and hire a babysitter (or is it called a mother’s maid?) lol
@aengs2 That's such a solid plan. I want to get back to my career too. But my kid isn't quite 2 so I have to wait until she starts school since we can't afford childcare 🤦🏽 I wanted to find something to do in the meantime but its impossible
@dazzlingmommy Do you love or do you LOVE it? Lol Do you work from home?
@denise1493 This is LITERALLY my situation!!! Omg! Lets be friends hun lol
@mulatto_mama, It's fine to ask questions! 😊 I've been the breadwinner for years now doing work in Human Resources and the legal field. But my husband just got an amazing union job recently so we no longer need me to work because he makes so much money and has amazing union benefits. Juggling my career, commute, daycare, household duties, and pregnancy on a daily basis while my husband was traveling all the time was just too much for me. I couldn't handle it all. My job was way too overwhelming for me and my boss and my son's daycare provider caused me so much additional stress. Our plan is to have me stay at home with both of our kiddos at least until my son starts kindergarten. Then I'll jump right back into my career.
@mulatto_mama, yea mine are the exact same!!! That’s their favorite time to disappear and get quiet and get into things. I feel like I’ve wasted so many hours looking for a real stay at home job. So many days I just feel like what I do is so overdone it’s pointless and my temper flys so much quicker on those long weeks that there’s no break from the monotony.
I’m a sahm as well. I stopped working at around 5-6 months pregnant. I’m so ready to get out and work or something. We hadn’t been here in the DMV area long before I got pregnant so I’ve literally been in the house forever with no friends lol
@aengs2 you stopped working to sah? Do you have a plan? Don't mean to sound nosey. Being at home with the kids is amazing but its just as hard. I just want to get some other perspectives.
@mulatto_mama it flies by. My 3 year old (just turned 3) refuses to cuddle even for a minute. He's too wild and loves to be constantly up moving lol
Today my youngest was running a fever cause she's cutting teeth and all she wanted to do was cuddle so I soaked it up but felt bed cause she didn't feel good.
@brookehayes585 Thank you. I wonder sometimes lol And she's growing so fast, I don't want to miss a single cuddle!
@mulatto_mama we went through that phase. Its rough. Just keep trying. She will get used to it.
All my kids slept in my bed (other than my step son lol) I loved co sleeping. Made things easier especially since all the kids rooms are on the second floor and mines on the first. But enjoy the cuddles while you can but just keep trying. Either way you are doing a good job 😁
@brookehayes585 Ugh I'm so jealous! We co sleep with our daughter and she refuses to sleep in her own bed. I could get her there no problem. But she wakes up after an hour or two and climb in bed with us. 🤦🏽
@xryztalroze Just from the comment, I can tell you that 9/10 you're being too hard on yourself. A suggestion would be small stuff like letting the dishes go undone while you play a game with your littles. "It can wait" is a good go to when I start to feel like you do 💜
@mamakei95 This is EXACTLY what I'm feeling! I just wish there were more realistic work from home options. For example: My kid chooses the most inopportune times to "sing" at the top of her lungs, or cry, etc... So answering phones is not an option lol
@mulatto_mama my husband used to work swing shift 3 days 6am-6pm 2 days off 4 days night shift 6pm to 6am and so forth.
2 of our 4 kids fight me on bedtime. It would take me 3 hours of sitting in the kids hallway to get my 5&3 year old to sleep. They only go to bed no problem when my husband is home. Its rough so I completely understand that. My youngest who was born December 2016 hated sleeping without one of us so we co slept until around 13 months and then we just had to get her really tired and then put her to bed and she would cry for a little bit but I was sitting in the hall next to her room so I knew she was fine and she would fall asleep. It wouldn't take more than 20 minutes or so and now she sleeps from 8pm to 10am no problems
Hello ladies! Sahm since last March until next May. 2 yo and 1 month old dd's. I stay busy every day and don't know where the time goes. For those of you who manage to keep the house clean and entertain the littles, please would you mind sharing an average day? I keep my home clean but don't feel like I spend enough quality time with my two year old. Wondering if I'm too hard on myself or if I'm lagging. Thanks.
Over here! Am looking for a job just because I feel I need a change but I do love being a sahm. It’s has its goods and bads.
@brookehayes585 Oh don't be sorry lol I'm genuinely interested! My husband's schedule changes and she's a daddy's girl so she refuses to sleep until he's home 🤦🏽 Sometimes that's like 2 am! I try to stick to schedule but shes stubborn like her mama so it's really tough.
@michellemybell09 It's insane 🤦🏽 And the only family close by is my mil and she works just as many hours as my husband does. Sigh. At least we have that bond with our little ones from all the quality time we get
@mulatto_mama I try and keep a routine. My husband must got a new job so he's home every day by 330 so that helps but I make sure to just keep things around the same time and a few times a week try and find something fun for the kids to do even if it just bike rides around the neighborhood, park days, getting snow cones from the snow cone guy who comes around the neighborhood and so on.
But find a good schedule that works for you and with your child and with house hold chores.
I schedule what days I clean certain days of my house, every day I do 1 load of clothes (Mondays mine and husband's clothes, Tuesday both boys clothes, Wednesday both girls clothes, Thursday towels, Friday's our undergarments, Saturday blankets/bedding) keeps it from not backing up.
Facebook events around your town, my town does local bands in parks for free on certain nights so kids get park time and parents get so music and time together.
Sorry for the long post lol
But find a good schedule that works for you
@karensmommy Yikes! They kept missing with me too but it sounds like you had it worse. I'm so sorry that happened.
@mulatto_mama it was the Dr who did it he took the needle out and put it back several times the last time I got a contraction and the needle stabbed my back the wrong way 😥
@michellemybell09 I had to stop during my pregnancy because I was high risk. Then once she was here and everything was back to normal I didnt have/cant afford childcare. Such is my issue now. My husband makes too much but not enough for childcare so I can go back to work 🙈
@karensmommy Ugh, epidural 😒 I have back spasms and what feels like electric currents going through my back sometimes. Its such a pain
@mulatto_mama, no I don’t I stopped working when I got pregnant with my son I went back for a bit when he was 18 months but my mom was my babysitter and she was having some medical issues so me and my husband decided I should stay home again and we also decided to try for a baby. but always been curious what other Sahm moms are doing to keep busy.
@brookehayes585 oh my goodness! You certainly sound busy! How do you juggle it all?
@mommiesaremagical14 Exactly! Ive looked into work from home ideas but most of them just wont work for me right now. For example: my kid is very clingy lately. I can't even pick up a book without her climbing in my lap and closing it lol Shes an attention hog lol
@mulatto_mama nothing to be sorry about 😊 it's from the epidural but it was worth it lol.
I'm sahm. I have been on and off for 5 years (I worked as a nanny for 2 years but lived in my bosses home with my daughter then once i moved out I brought my daughter, newborn son and stepson with me, then in the winter i work a few months to bring in money for Christmas) but mainly stay at home around 9 months out of the year.
I have 5 year old 4 year old 3 year old 19 month old
@mulatto_mama I'm constantly in pain so it's hard to do alot of the things I want to do
@its.sarah I love that theres so many here. Ive been needing mommy friends lol
@karensmommy Lol thats how I feel a lot of the time. And sometimes Im ok with it while other times I wish I had the energy to do more.
@mommiesaremagical14 Yes, we go to parks and libraries. We live in the city so theres much to do. But I have always either gone to school or worked or both. And now I feel like Ive kind of stalled. If that makes sense.
@mulatto_mama I tried but it was just too much energy trying to keep up with my little one cook and clean and work. So I'm a mom from the 1820s lol
@idontwant2bapie Oh, yes. We go for adventures. But I have worked or gone to school (or both) my whole life before I was pregnant. Now I give my full attention to my daughter and sometimes (lately mostly) I feel like I need to be doing more.
@mulatto_mama I take my daughter to our local library, Park, and indoor play place called mr. B's, all of our fast food places have indoor playgrounds I take her there, I have gotten her enrolled in karate, there are ceramic stores we can go to and paint and buy ceramics, Chuck-E-Cheese stuff like that.
@mulatto_mama I don't but I look into it periodically. Amazon hires home-based customer service Representatives every once in awhile. The last one they had I could have gotten but you needed to be fluent in Japanese. So I'm either going to find one or end up going to work once my daughter starts school. Do you have anything around you that you can go out and do with your daughter?
@xryztalroze . Thank you. You as well!
