I finally decided to go with waterbirth and I'm now seeing two midwives. They recommended primrose oil to help with tearing. Did anyone here try this before and worked? And are they gel style pills or actual liquid oil in a bottle?

You insert them vaginally. I didn’t tear 😊

@mummyroo91 the whole pill? What if you put it on the outside lol could I start doing it now at 24 weeks?
Mummyroo ·
It’s best to go all the way up lol. I don’t think you start taking it until around 34 weeks??

I tried this and I still tore. I think I started at 39 weeks. It was only a first degree though. I healed in about 2 weeks.
I would say it’s worth trying. My son came out in 4 pushes, so I think it was difficult to avoid tearing in my first case.
This time around, I’m doing a water birth too.

@lulu85_18, it’s best to start before 39 weeks. I don’t think it would make a difference that late on. My daughter came out in one push and my son in around 4. I didn’t tear with either and used primrose oil.. I did have a teeny tear with my first born though, which I didn’t use it with. I think if you’re going to tear then it’s just going to happen. But I think the evening primrose definitely helped in my delivery’s 😊

@lulu85_18 I also gave birth very quickly but fortunately I didn't tear I just had a small scratch. But still you never know how this delivery will go. I'm so nervous for excited! 😂 You're almost there I hope it goes fast and easy 💕

I started taking them vaginally at 36 weeks and had no tearing

@mummyroo91, yeah, sadly my doctor didn’t tell me about it. It’s something I read on a holistic website by the time it was so late in my pregnancy. Did you insert just one each night?
Lulu·
@nellyrojas1994, the only thing I’m not looking forward to is the drive there. Our birthing center is over an hour away. I don’t want to leave too soon, but I also don’t want to get there and then not be progressing.

@lulu85_18, I think I inserted two. It depends on the mg if I remember correctly
