Has anyone ever experienced incorrect gender via blood test (From MaterniT21, Harmony, Verifi,…

i never had one of those.. just got the confirmation on the 20 weeks ultrasound.

Panorama is what my office uses, they have over a 99.9% confirmation stat. I have never heard of anyone getting the wrong sex of the baby on this test. We had ours done just as a backup but didn't have the office share with us until after we saw on our 20 week US.

To me I just wonder if what you are reading is from a lot of ladies who hoped for the opposite sex, thought it was still possible, but US confirmed. On that chain there is only 1 lady saying it was wrong for her, everyone else was "hoping" theirs could be wrong too. 1 person in a pool of thousands doesn't surprise me, and like she said her doctor explained it could happen (though I am sure it is way more rare than she wanted to lead people to believe). Older boys does not automatically mean the test will sample from that. My cousins all have older boys (6 years to 13 years old) and there tests from horizon came back 100% correct.

Anyway just my thoughts.

@heilwife317 Well, I'm reading recent birth or miscarriage of XY chromosome can cause false reading for boy - vanishing twin can cause false - chromosome issues can indicate both genders (which is rare - hermaphrodite)

.... That (1) thread I shared has 43 pages, there are at least 10 cases that claim it was wrong and your right the others "hoping". Im just asking if anyone else can vouch that it actually happened, just curious. Those ladies experienced agony and having to do Amino thereafter because of course docs posed genetic/chromosome issues after false reading.

@angelfoodcake my miscarriage didn't, and neither did my cousins. Not saying it doesn't exist, like I said just extremely rare.

@heilwife317 I wrote more after I posted, btw. But yeah I agree probably very rare but I'm sure it can happen, nothing is all perfect. Whether by Dna or human error. I'm having another boy and that's fine. But I did have a miscarriage in the last year; and do have 2 boys, 1 under 3. So to be sure I will have them check at my next ultrasound at 19 weeks, anatomy. Before I start buying more boy stuff 🤥

@heilwife317 one lady also claimed her family carried some rare disease where some of the females carry some detection of Y chromosome - but are completely reproducing females; which caused boy reading - even claimed previous family members knew about it but never told her... Wonder if it's the truth 🤔

@angelfoodcake Interesting. I mean anything is possible...just very rare and unlikely to occur to multiple people who know each other I would say. As far as her family maybe, maybe there is a rare disease that can do that.... I'm no geneticist.

I think my hubby is still hoping that baby #2 (whenever that happens) is a boy as well just because he is so darn afraid of raising a girl. Lol
