Anyone have any experience with an old job withholding your final paycheck? In my state the law says final checks must be given within seven days of termination, and every time I call about my check, the owner 'isn't in', and when I call him directly he ignores my calls. My mom says to sue, but it's only for four days, no lawyer is gonna go to court over ~200 bucks. But I dont want him to get away with this either, he's literally breaking the law.

In the state of Arizona if you quit or get fired they’re should have your check without 72 hrs after that.

this happened to me at Burger King. I quit after the GM through a whopper at me, I didn't feel comfortable coming back up to the store and they blatantly refused to mail me my final check and stub, when I threatened to call a lawyer they then said all i had to do was turn in my uniform but that wasn't until i brought the lawyer up. And i had time clock reviews on the work computer and time clock out sheets that showed the hours i worked for the day, for the 5 days out of the week i worked.

Id have someone type up a nice note demanding action to take place on him doing so, or further action will be done..like just scare him into thinking it's a serious matter. Omg pregnancy brain is strong tonight

@leowifey I have many times. But the owner is never there (even though I come at varied times and do not tell them I'm coming by).

@ymoreno16 that rule changed I guess in 2015, they now have seven days, or the end of payroll, whichever comes first.

@miloorflorencetbd, no it hasn’t I got fired last year from McDonald’s and my manager from the McDonald’s I was working told me that they had 72 hrs to get my check ready.

@ymoreno16 then they weren't aware of the changes. Everywhere I checked said 7 days.

Wtf that sucks 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ honestly why is he even holding your check? Unless you have something that belongs to the company they can but other then that I do t think they can

@ymoreno16 even if I did take anything (there was nothing to take- I bought my uniform shirts, and all my supplies were personal buys) they haven't told me anything. He's just shit with money and lazy as hell. This is the same man who with my first check, asked me if I was okay with waited four days to be paid, and if I would wait he would pay me an extra 50 bucks. Not exactly business savvy.
