If your cat is an indoor kitty and you don't feed it raw meat, you shouldn't have any problems

My kids and SO do the litter box now.

I did the litter with a mask and gloves and disinfected my hands and scrubbed my nails thoroughly after changing it. My cat has been strictly indoors since I got him too as we live in an apartment. You have to ingest the feces to get it, so strict hygiene and you will be fine.

Im very careful. She does go outside but i grew up with in and outdoor cats. Its more common than i thought it was but from what I've read proper sanitation is the biggest thing

@mamagunn.no.1 is right, you have to ingest the parasite for transmission. Even if you’ve had a life time of cats, the only way you’d have antibodies against toxoplasmosis is to have had it before. Glove up and wash, you’ll be fine.

My OB told me you’re more likely to get toxoplasmosis from gardening than from a litter box, but best to take precautions regardless.

My SO changed the cat box in the beginning of my pregnancy because we were both freaked out and new to it all. Around 16 weeks, I got annoyed asking him to constantly scoop it so I just did it myself 😂 Use gloves if you have them but just wash your hands very well afterwards and you will be fine. Breathing it in does not harm you it’s just if you touch the poop and touch your eyes/mouth/nose type of thing. Contracting it is still 1 in 10,000 so it’s truly not very common. Definitely take precautions because obviously it’s better safe than sorry but don’t freak yourself out ☺️
