Need some suggestions for ways to discipline my son without spanking, popping his hand, etc.

Time out. Have a certain chair placed in a corner. He will sit one minute per year of age. If he’s 2 he will sit two minutes. Afterwards. Talk to him and explain why he got in trouble and why he can’t do what he did.

I agree with @damn.it.red. He will probably try and get up a lot. So you can’t start the time till he sits and stays there.

@damn.it.red, yeah I definitely need to get a time out chair. I usually make him sit down in his little couch in the living room but haven’t been doing a specific time and it’s not in a corner. I do try and talk to him afterwards each time but it’s just hard because he constantly repeats the behavior. Thank you!

@babyjjsmommy, it’s consistency with kids. Same thing over and over and over. You want him isolated so he can think about what he’s done and then talk to him about it afterwards. It should get better.

@damn.it.red, thank you so much. Definitely plan on trying it. Gotta get my fiancé on board because he would rather pop him to get his attention, and i don’t want to do that when it’s ineffective and pointless. It doesn’t teach him anything.

@babyjjsmommy, well we use spanking as a last resort. The girls have been spanked a handful of times.

Time out. I put my son in his play pen with nothing in it when he’s not listening or throwing a fit.
