Husband wants to go out tonight just me and him. My mom would watch the girls. Only problem is Emma is breastfed and since I’m a SAHM I don’t have a supply stash since there is really no need. He told me just pump a bottle for her.... OKAY LET ME PUMP 8 OUNCES IN THE NEXT HALF HOUR WHEN IVE NEVER PUMPED BEFORE! I don’t have a supply like that! I’ve been pumping for like half an hour with 2 let downs in that time and I only have an ounce.... plus my pump barely works so that doesn’t help. He doesn’t realize I can’t just poof and gush a whole bottle out on demand. Baby can get milk 100 times more efficiently than any pump can. It’s just frustrating that he doesn’t understand.
In exclusively breastfed babies, milk intake increases quickly during the first few weeks of life, then stays about the same between one and six months (though it likely increases short term during growth spurts). Current breastfeeding research does not indicate that breastmilk intake changes with baby’s age or weight between one and six months. After six months, breastmilk intake will continue at this same level until — sometime after six months, depending in baby’s intake from other foods — baby’s milk intake begins to decrease gradually
Yeah, it’s going to be hard to pump a bunch with such short notice. Do the best you can. If you won’t be gone long then leaving 4oz should be plenty, especially if you can feed her before you leave.
It’s frustrating. I agree with the stated above and take a break drink some water and feed baby then right after you feed her try to pump some more.
This is from a website that my lactation consultant recommend to me for anything breastfeeding related. My baby is almost 2 months and she's getting 2-3oz
