Good morning moms. I'd like to get your opinion on a child care issue I am currently facing:
My husband and I needed to find new childcare starting in December of 2017. We luckily found a woman who watches children out of her home & our 2 yr old absolutely adores her. Things have been working out well for the most part. However, for the past six or seven months now, the babysitter will call off once a week, or once every other week. At the beginning I was extremely sentimental with her, but now my husband and I are at a point where we have little to no vacation days left/time off available because we've had to call off work in lieu of our babysitter calling off. I understand we all get sick, and she is human just like the rest of us, but my goodness. To call off once a week or even once every other week, does that seem a bit much to you all? It sure does to me. I have more flexibility in my job than my husband does, but again, we can only afford to take time off work for so long. My husband was outraged this morning when our babysitter called off at 3:30 am, in which case we did not even see her text until 6:30 when we woke up. We scrambled and stressed over what we were going to do with the day, as my husband and I both had work matters to attend to that we were not able to shift around.
I hate the thought of finding yet another child care provider for our son. He loves our current sitter and it hurts my heart to think of taking him away, but on the other end of it...we need our careers. We have bills and cannot afford to not work. Mind you I am only working 3 or 4 days a week in which I need a sitter.
Thoughts/opinions?
Unless you want to sit her down first and talk about the situation and explain that if she continues that you will be forced to find another sitter.
