Pretty much.... 😑 I wasn't dilating either and needed pitocin because I stopped dilating at 6cm, began dilating again but stopped at 9.5, ended up with a csection because after nearly 2 days my son's head ended up crooked.
@blakeslatinmama, it’s more common than not for induction to end with a cesarean unfortunately though. I’m glad yours went well! My recovery was so rough... I wouldn’t wish that on anyone
@raquely, due dates are rly just an estimate unfortunately and I think for a lot of people induction is unnecessary. Of course doctors suggest it because they make so much more off insurance companies for the extended stay and care that both women and their babies need afterwards. This being your 3rd child though I’m sure things will go well for you. Hopefully you go into labor naturally before Friday cos induction rly sucks.
@raquely, Josiah was measuring almost 3 weeks ahead 😩 I got induced a day shy of 41 weeks and my body still wasn’t ready. I personally would never be induced again unless for a medical reason.
@raquely, the chance of the baby swallowing meconium is also raised during induction so I think that’s a risk either way. cos even after the water breaks they can continue with the induction for up to 24 hours or something around that before an emergency c section is required.
I went into labor naturally but stopped at a 5 for hours, they gave pitocin & an epidural. I spiked a fever, pushed for 3 straight hours with no break & I kept hearing them talk to themselves about my & dds heart rates. I'm surprised I didn't end up having a c section. Then they put dd on iv antibiotics for 2 days since I had a fever, even though all tests eventually came back that she was fine. 😥😩😬
Yes! This is how my first was. Now I have read and did so much research on things to know what helps and what actually stresses the baby. I felt most of the surgery as well @yestatipa it was a bad experience for me. @mrssandersonm yea I think a lot more women could have smooth births if doctors didn't stress the due date so much like it is a definite emergency evict the baby date.
