The thing about pacifiers when breastfeeding is it can mess with their latch.

All baby’s are different I gave my daughter the pacifier as soon as she was born & never had a problem

I started giving my daughter the pacifier and her latch is still good, but I was told the same at the hospital so I waited a couple of days but sometimes the paci can save your life when you are trying to get somewhere to BF comfortably or prep formula sooo lol

My son HATES THEM omg I brought 500000 pacis & he does take one

We use a pacifier because according to the AAP, it can actually reduce the risk of SIDS. The only kind of pacifier my son could keep in his mouth was MAM. It was a lifesaver.

I bought about a million pacifiers as well for my daughter and she never took one. She used to spit them out and fuss if you tried to give her one.

@aengs2, yess! MAM is the only paci my son likes. Same with the bottles. It’s the only brand he likes.

What happened with me is I was breastfeeding and then gave my son a pacifier to soothe him at a doctors appointment, well the pacifier hits the top back of they’re mouth more and when I tried to get him to breadtfeed after that, he wouldn’t latch or suck because he obviously a normal nipple isn’t as big as a pacifier and didn’t hit the back of his mouth like the pacifier did. A nipple shield helps that tho

So I gave my kids pacifiers at about 6 weeks, they love the MAM ones and there a lifesaver!!!

The hospital will likely give your baby one in the nursery if they get fussy unless you ask them not to before hand
