Who else washes their dishes and then puts them in the dishwasher? I just never have found dishwashers to clean properly every since I was home with Mom. So our dishwasher is literally just a dish holder.
I will hand wash all dishes then put in dishwasher and run it to sanitize them I don’t know if that’s what it’s doing but in my mind I think it is hahaha.
I wash by hand and then use the dishwasher as a drying rack also when I don't have the time to hand dry. Air drying is actually more hygienic according to some reports and research. So happy to know I'm not the only one who does this. Everyone I know thinks I'm crazy. But I can do the dishes faster and more efficiently by hand. 😁
@mhbbb2 Guess I get lazy by that point, and it's a storage and dryer for me lol
We usually hand wash the dishes and use the dishwasher as storage unless we have had company and there are a lot. If we do use the dishwasher I scrub dishes without soap and then place them in the dishwasher. I haven’t noticed any difference in my PGE or water bill honestly.
I wash all my dishes and makes it spotless before putting it in the dishwasher each and every time. Never missed it once. 😬
Haha i also dont trust just the dishwasher. I always wash the dishes and use the dishwasher as like “ sanitizing “ it 😂 then somehow our dishwasher never dries our plates so then i put it o a dish rack afterwards 🤣
I did notice a difference in water usage handwashing vs dishwasher. It was always less with the dishwasher. The dishwasher we have now is like three months old so uses less electricity than the 15 year old one we had before.
@mommy_x3 @nomli @its.sarah @countrymusic_mama I wonder if we are saving any on our electric bill or not but hand washing?
Yes! My dishwashers only purpose is to hold the dishes after I hand wash them!! Husband likes to use dishwasher though. I had to teach him the dishwasher uses special soap not what I use in the sink. He asked AFTER the dishwasher overflowed bubbles all over our floor 😂
Yes girl me too! I even go to the extreme of pouring vinegar on them to make glasses extra clean 😂
Our dishwasher won't work properly if the dishes aren't dirty. It has sensors that detect the amount of food residue and then washes accordingly, meaning amount of water it uses and stuff.
“Then what does the dishwasher do!?” 🤷🏻♀️ lmao have you seen that commercial?😂
@laniejay NM your saying you were told not to rinse before, gotcha.
I can’t say I understand it myself 😂 it’s just what he told us and when I was reading up, I read the same. So I haven’t washed them since. I will wipe food chunks off, but I never rinse.

Our dishwasher has ended up as storage... I prefer hand washing because I know they are getting clean! 🤷
I'm the same way. I don't see how not rinsing/washing would give a better clean than already washed dishes going through 😂
I clean them in the sink to rid them of of grease and particles. Then I place in dishwasher and run it to steam and sanitize.
We were told not to when we bought ours. Leaving residue gives something for the soap to adhere to for a better clean. Idk if that is true, but we never rinse them and don’t have an issue.
I’m the same way. My husband says I’m crazy. I literally wash my dishes and then wash them again in the dishwasher. Any time my husband does the dishes and doesn’t wash them first they come out still dirty.
