I'm on day 4 or possibly five of what I think is the stomach flu. I haven't thrown up for a couple days but every time I get out of bed clean or do something I feel so weak. I've lot of pain in my back and my stomach hence the space heater. The only time I can sleep is if I'm laying close to it and I have it on high. TMI my urine is super dark I even though I am drinking water. I'm not eating much because I have no appetite. I just don't know what's going on. I no longer have a fever. But what's scaring me is just a weakness in my body and head anytime I get up to do something. I've been trying to keep the kitchen clean and keep up with my household stuff since so is working. I just don't know. Any thoughts or advice or stories or guidance would be great thanks in advance.

If your urine is dark odds are your severely dehydrated. You need to go get iv fluids and electrolytes. Severe dehydration very often also causes weakness, dizziness, exhaustion and cramping. Unfortunately sometimes just drinking isn’t enough to get your hydration back up to a safe level. Please go in to be seen right away. Extended times of dehydration is very hard on your kidneys.

Didn't consider dehydration, could it be anything else? Should I go to the ER. I hate doing that unless totally necessary.

Food isn’t important when you have a bug

Only drink. You should be trying to drink at least 2 litres of water a day, I think it might even be 3 a day after a bug

Although the heater is helping you, try and turn it off if you can Hun. It will make you sweat and you will lose hydration through sweat and make yourself even more dehydrated

The pee is dark because you are dehydrated, the fact you feel dizzy and weak could mean complications of dehydration so I would phone your doctor, explain everything and they will decide if you need to come in or not

But honestly I think you need to

Dehydration (in very rare cases) can lead to labour because your uterus will be under strain and will start contacting and if not stopped can cause you to dilate so please go and get seen, just to ease everyone’s minds

@pp ty for the reply. I'm not pregnant so that part is not a concern. I've been busy reading about dehydration and I think you and pp may be right. All the syptoms fit. I do not have a pcp. Isn't there a number you can call that will connect you to a nurse so they can tell you whats next? Should I just go to the ER?

Well turns out what I thought was stomach flu is likely liver damage or even failure. I woke up yesterday to see my skin and eyes very yellow. That prompted me to look up jaundice which then led me to liver failure. All the symptoms I thought was stomach flu also match those of liver failure. ?

So brought me to the hospital this morning. They admitted me immediately and now I'm waiting to have blood tests. Any positive thoughts or encouragement is much appreciated.

Thanks ladies. The blood work is almost back but now they've ordered an ultrasound. Not sure why.

This sounds like when I had a kidney infection to be honest.

The ultrasound is probably to see if you have blockage from a stone or some.

Thanks ladies. Been here since 7am, had blood work and an ultrasound and they aren't telling me ANYTHING. I think they found something bad in my blood work hence the ultrasound. I'm kind of scared.

Whoohoooo!! No liver failure. They don't know exactly what it is but my ultrasound looks good. He said it's most likely an infection or virus like hep A which I did not know you could get from food. I just have to have liver levels monitored for awhile. Thanks for the advice and supp.??
