What are your favorite things to eat when you’re trying to lose weight and tone up?
I'm a personal trainer, and the best advice I have for you is to ease into a transition. I see so many people decide one day to switch everything, if they make 1 slip they regressed and they feel bad, and some give up the whole thing... take it easy, REACHABLE goals. This week cut out all pop, next week cut out sweets, week after start no food after 7pm, etc etc. Keep a log and set weekly/monthly goals.... cold turkey doesn't work for everyone.
Sorry I don't have much time right now to give food ideas, I'll try and come back for some! Good on you for trying to make a healthy lifestyle! Great example for your kids
I eat what i want just portion control
Mind you i have an ed so my portion is very small and i eat like once a day so rhat might be what helps
But ive been known to love off five cent candy
Or even brownies and consistently lose weight
Calorie counting really does help
What i did to once to lose weight a healthy way was
Eat 6x a day whole foods portioning everything but not counting calories.
I didnt eat white carbs or butter or marg i had quinoa alot
Breakfast was like 1 hard boiled egg a whole grain toast with hummus a fruit and a glass of water or a tea
Snack 5 almonds and 10 carrots
Lunch salad wiith smoked chicken breast lunch meat cut up and added to it as well as some beans or quinoa and lemon and olive oil as dressing
Snack a fruit
Dinnner veg chili with quinoa and a salad or borrito bowl, taco bowl ide salad and water
And id save my snack for late night since i stay up till 2am it was a yoguet cup with a 1/4 portion of granola it helped with my sweet craving
I drank a tonne of water i switched it up alot this is just a couple days i ate that specifically but you get rhe idea
I lost 15-18 lbs before i stopped because i actually couldnt afford to keep losing at that rate
Salt is not the same as sodium, FYI. Your body needs sodium and a bit of chloride, but not necessarily sodium chloride (salt). You can get both sodium and chloride from other natural foods and salting your food is unnecessary for nutritional value.
Everybody’s talking about salt, but what about wine? Can we still have that?? 😶
@stormyy14, yes and that can be achieved without adding salt to your foods not sure what dr would tell you that you have to add salt to your food to be healthy. You need to eat a proper diet that is all.
I’ve gone vegetarian I don’t even miss meat when I don’t eat it. I like to roast veggies. I put olive oil, garlic, pepper and garlic powder and it’s so good. I love adding fruit to salad. I made my own dressing with olive oil, Italian seasoning and red wine vinegar. So good with everything!
Everything you gotta cook! If you take our soda and processed foods you will see some weight loss (even a bit) within the first month
@stormyy14, can I ask where you’ve gotten your information from? It’s not just what works for me. It has come straight from numerous nutritionists and my homeopathic dr. Natural salt is what your body needs not processed garbage.
If you want to add salt, just use sea salt. If it’s white, it’s over processed and void of nutrients. Unprocessed salt has iodine which is good for you.
@stormyy14, yes your body does need salt but foods naturally have sodium content so adding salt to anything is unnecessary.
@beeceesweetie, yes girl cut down your salt or eliminate it completely and you should see results, when I cut salt out of my diet I literally can loose all my belly flab (still have the flab or extra skin 😩) in a week or two.
@beeceesweetie, water retention, you can work out and eat as clean as can be but be seasoning your foods with salt and see no results due to water retention.. it’s one of the hardest things lol which is why I still have my belly flab lmao..
I make this awesome “stir fry”. In a pan I put in some cut up chicken cook it in extra virgin olive oil. Then I add different colored bell peppers, onions, squash and broccoli. I add a smidge if water to help get the veggies soft. Season it all with garlic powered and salt and pepper. Then I add hot sauce. It’s so good. I also make a dish with baked chicken with some cheese on top and serve in on brown rice and black beans. When I’m feeling greedy I’ll add some gravy on top. (Not so healthy) I also like jerk chicken with pineapples in it served on top of brown rice. Steak and mushrooms pieces cooked in low sodium soy sauce served with brown rice on the side or cous cous Lol. When I eat healthy I make a lot of baked chicken dinners.
No salt... I think that’s one of the most important things as well as drinking water. Lean meats and try and eat as clean as possible. When trying to determine if something is clean it should only really be one ingredient or for something like hummus no preservatives or added chemicals etc.
Salmon, and I bought my mom boar head hummus and it has minimal ingredients
Pineapple tea was working on me but was getting my cm too acidic so had to
Stop it till I confirm ovulation . :)
@mojobebe, I’ll have to do some research 🤔 I like hummus. I’ll look up some protein shakes, too. I’ve never made them lol...
Nutrient dense vegetables & lean meats, lots of water, no juice or soda at all, raw veggies, 0% greek yogurt, fish.
@mamablackbear, thanks so much for the advice! I’m gonna start out by saying I used to have so much time to work out at home and I did so good. I looked amazing and had so much confidence 😕 My daughter is 16 months old and ever since I had her, I’ve let myself go and I hate myself. I’m insecure and roughly 30 pounds heavier. I don’t feel attractive anymore 😕 I need to go back to that lifestyle so I can stop being so miserable.
@vintageteaspoon, Hmmm good question. You can always make your own hummus! It’s pretty easy. I usually buy mine because I don’t have time for anything these days but homemade is always best. I have the app My Fitness Pal and they have a lot of healthy recipes for you to try if you need ideas.

@mojobebe, is store bought hummus good for you? Stupid question. I just need to eat 100% clean and I don’t want anything extra added. I will be drinking nothing but plain water. Snacking on mostly fruits and veggies. I struggle with lunch and dinner ideas 😕
Oatmeal for me! It's filling, which is what I tend to struggle with when eating lo carb.
Oatmeal, fruit and veggie protein shakes, salmon, roasted spicy chick peas, hummus, Roasted everything: sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, grilled chicken, WATER, and, even though they aren’t all that good for you, I keep a couple of lean cuisines on hand just in case I am pressed for time and can’t make lunch/ dinner. It keeps me from getting fast food.
