My cousin has SMS. She's 26 now! So interesting to see another with it. It's very rare. Took the doctors 10 years or so to diagnose my cousin.

@lifewithlynniejade88, our geneticist told us that it was rare, but to get a diagnosis as early as we did was even more so. I’m sure those 10 years were tough on your family, not having answers. 💜

Yes, it was stressful for her parents especially . That's wonderful they diagnosed it so soon for your son. Shania would hit her head and bite her wrists and still does occasionally. She also has diabetes and hypothyroidism.

@lifewithlynniejade88, my son has behavior issues like that to. Behavior therapy has helped. He get monitored basically for all potential health issues that could arise from sms. He has a whole in his heart and seizures.

Shania also had a hole in her heart but she had surgery when she was really young. If I remember correctly I think she had it repaired as an infant.

@lifewithlynniejade88, we haven’t had to do surgery yet, but the cardiologist said that it’s still a possibility.
