Can I please get some prayers (more specifically, prayers for my stepdad).

My stepdad has a large lump in his throat, and hasn’t been going to the doctor for it. He doesn’t know I know about it — he thinks only my mother knows. After over a year he finally told her he’s been putting off going because if it’s something bad they won’t be able to afford it. They’ll lose everything. He’s trying to wait until he gets insurance, because I guess if he gets it checked now before having health insurance they won’t cover it due to it being a pre existing condition. I’m not sure of all the details. I just know I’m terrified and it has been weighing heavily on me.

That is so sad and imo the single worst thing about the USA, people literally die because they can’t afford health care. I hope he gets insurance soon and has it taken care of, my bil was just diagnosed with stage 3 possibly 4 cancer last week and I could not imagine not being able to have him treated. Sending my prayers to your family 💕

I understand what a hard situation that is to be in. I used to work in a hospital and they had a Charity Care program that could reduce the cost of treatments exponentially. I would not delay care, he should get the treatment he needs. I would call the hospital to see if they have a cost reduction program, most places do have that but many people are not aware of it. @leahdeere just the medical part. It's tough because my grandmother has a mass on her lung and refuses to get it removed. She's in denial. My aunt has a lump in her throat and will be undergoing a biopsy this week. I honestly try my damndest not to think about it and call them as much as possible. I hope your stepdad can get some good insurance asap and this lump resolves itself!

@i_accidentally, That is so scary! Your grandmother sounds just like how my stepdad’s been acting about his throat lump. I think it started as denial for him and he was trying to treat it with home remedies. But now the thing about insurance, so I guess I understand his reasoning. I hope everything turns out okay with your aunt and that the results aren’t bad. I find myself trying not to think about it also because what can you do. Thanks again girl. ❤️
