It depends. My family threw me a small baby shower and it was basically a cook out.

They are basically food drinks and games and opening any gifts they be bring you unless u choose not to

You don’t have to have a whole meal, you could always do small finger foods or deserts. I think everyone is different. But we did sloppy joes and shredded chicken. We didn’t do games because I don’t like them. But we did do guess the day she will be born and guess how many jelly beans are in the baby bottle for gift cards.
It was mostly just hang out, eat, open gifts.
