Help a worried mom out!
I took my 4 year old to the dentist last week. They found a few cavities and scheduled a appointment for fillings. They had us watch a short video of the procedure. They will give him a oral sedative and he will wait with me for an hour. Once it kicks in they will let me walk him back where they will strap him in so he cannot move his arms or legs. They will then give him laughing gas while they do the fillings.
Is this standard procedure?

For some it's normal. I took my kids to a place like that. They have you sign a paper so they can strap kids down. I found them a new dentist. The new one does laughing gas and usually only does one tooth a day maybe two. It depends how the child acts. If the dentist knows they child will not sit through while being worked out they will sedate them. That's their last resort though. They will trying laughing gas a few time before sedating them.

Also i like my new dentist. I can stay with my child the whole time! From start to finish. The old dentist office didn't even want the parent walking back to the room with your child! They would let you watch through a glass window and you would leave once they started working on the kid.

Yea my son friend got it done like that she’s my son age too wit cavities :/
I was happy two months ago he went for a check up n didn’t hv any.

I’m definitely calling around tomorrow. I have anxiety about their process. My son is gonna be so traumatized. I understand if it’s normal then it has to be done. I am going to ask other dentist their policies.

I ain't never had to have my kids strapped down and i was there with them the whole time
