My heart broke a little today while watching my son at the play area in the mall... there was a boy about his age with his brother and Josiah absolutely loves running around and playing with other kids so he just kept following them. I noticed at one point that the youngest brother was blocking the slide so that Josiah couldn’t go down it. He would stick his leg across the top so Jo couldn’t climb up. My baby just stood there waiting his turn and it irritated me but he wasn’t upset so I didn’t say anything. Josiah eventually got his turn on the slide and after he went down he walked to the side of the slide to watch the boys as they sat at the top. He rested his hands on the side and this kid started pushing his hands down on top of them. At first I didn’t fully realize what he was doing and Josiah didn’t act like it hurt but then when he went to pull his hands away the boy grabbed them and started twisting his fingers. Josiah didn’t cry but he looked so confused as to why he wouldn’t let go of his hands. I honestly didn’t know how to handle the situation because my first instinct was to tell this kid to keep his F’ing hands to himself. The mother was just sitting there not saying anything and my skin felt hot because I was so pissed off. I stood up to walk towards them and somewhat loudly said “Josiah, tell him that hurts!” The mom then finally stepped in and told ___ to let go of his hands and if she seen him being mean again then he would have to sit with her. No apology, no encouragement to play nice or include my son, nothing. I was at a complete loss for words so I just took Josiah’s hand to leave and that’s when I noticed how red his hands were and that he had finger nail marks where this kid had scratched him ☹️
