my daughter is already a year old & i feel like shes not as advanced as other kids. i know shes smart and she has it in her but every time i try to read to her or use flashcards she tries to play with them or put them in her mouth. any other learning methods u mommas used? i feel bad for not trying harder.

At a year old, everything you do is teaching her. You don’t need flash cards. You count the Cheerios you give her to snack on. You say the colors of her clothes out loud when you get her dressed. You make the sounds an animal makes when you see them. Don’t stress yourself out, momma. She’s learning every day.

@pookiedoo, @rachie901, its just that recently i went out with an old friend and her baby and mine are the same age and her baby can wave say a couple words but my daughter couldnt yet and she kept asking she doesnt? like u need to spend more time teaching her & stuff made me feel kinda bad

@babeylarissa, children learn at their own pace. My son spoke in full sentences at 18 months. My daughter couldn’t put two words together until after she was 2. Development happens on its own schedule. Your “friend” shouldn’t be comparing or judging.

@babeylarissa, good! Enjoy your daughter. She’s at such a magical time. The world is going to open up so much for her in the next months and year!

My son is 19 months and only says momma, dadda, it, and no. Other than that he doesn't say anything and I'm a preschool teacher so since day one I have read him books and sing songs with him ext. Every baby learns at different rates. His peditrition said it's very normal for some children to not even start talking until after they are 2. Don't stress momma! I was worried to, but after talking to others I realized baby's all are different.

@kaitlinl20, i think it's stressful because other people judge so much

Sounds silly, but what helped my girls was turning everything into a song.
Every child learns at their own pace, just have fun with it!
Don’t listen to other peoples judgement 😊
You are doing great!

Мама сына-младенца
Every child is different. My sons cousin is only a week older than him and he can wave bye but my son can’t. But my son started drinking out a straw at 4 months and his cousin didn’t till 10 months. There going to grasp things at different times. At 14 months your daughter still has a lot of learning coming her way. If you still feel that way at 18 month well child check talk to her pediatrician. You can also google ASQ activities and try doing those with her.
