Anyone have a significant other in the army reserves? My husband is strongly considering enlisting.

@leightonarchacki I'm about to give you a crazy long response, so sorry in advance lol 😂 There's a lot of factors to it, if he is thinking of joining for money/benefits, don't bother. If it's because he truly wants to be in the military, then go for it. How it will be will depend a lot on his MOS. My husband is in a combat oriented MOS, so he has been deployed and it is possible for him to be again, it's something we always need to think about. When he goes for training he will get active duty benefits which are good and were helpful, but keep in mind when he comes home he is now a reservist so those active duty benefits are gone. In my opinion it's both good and bad. It's good because he will potentially get more time at home, but it's bad because you still need to be apart for his training and be prepared for a deployment without getting the majority of the benefits. That being said I plan on enlisting in the Reserves next year. I was set to go Active but my husband "knocked me up" 😂 he decided to join because he had no idea what else to do at that time.

@emily526, how long are the deployments

@leightonarchacki The length of his training will depend on his MOS. Although basic training is the same length his AIT or job training will depend on his MOS. Deployments I believe can also vary in length, but my husband was gone for a year.
