Hey ladies, I have my 14 year old sil staying with us for the last 5 days and she hasn’t showered…

My brother was like that and idk why. Maybe mention having a pampering party. Tell her to go shower and you two can do nails and masks or something.

I would definitely say something, no matter how weird it is. Not only is it gross, it's unhealthy too.

Could she just feel nervous being it’s not her house? You could possibly say hey ____ you know you are welcome here and can use all of our stuff while your here..(can even add) I just noticed you haven’t taken a shower and wanted you to know you are welcome to use it... you don’t have to ask:)

I’m sure she just feels out of her element. Don’t bring up hygiene and make her feel even more weird and gross on top of it. Maybe you can give a subtle hint like hey I put some extra towels in the bathroom if you wanna take a shower.

I would just tell her hey here is a towel so you can shower...... the hair soap and body soap are in the shower let me know if you need anything else

Thanks ladies. We’ve told her where the towels are and asked if she needed to get some shampoo while we were at the store. She has a guest bathroom to herself. She’s really shy so idk if she’s just uncomfortable not being home? It’s not her first time here so idk! I talked to hubby last night about it and he agrees it’s gross and weird, so maybe he’ll feel more comfortable hinting a shower before they go out to the movies today.
