So my fiancé has a 4 year old that is his world, which happens to be my step daughter. He is an amazing father but is in such denial about me being pregnant (now 7 weeks) that we can’t even talk about my pregnancy together. Should I open up to him about my feelings or just wait until he comes to? (We just found out a week ago)

@imyagoda, hopefully it passes soon. I’m so happy bc I was told I’d never be able to have babies so this is the happiest time of my life right at the moment

Things might totally change once the babies here. My husbands kinda the same way. When I’m pregnant it’s like whatever. But when my son got here omg. Total different man. My husband is the best father ever.

@jaytabke514, wow god bless you and your baby

@mar_la @jaytabke514 We carry the baby, feel the baby grow, kick, hiccup, we bond on a totally different level, i mean, theyre literaly a part of us for a pretty large span of time, dads aren't able to do that so it makes sense that they would do the majority of bonding after baby is born. 😊

@leroydoom, I guess you have a very good point. I hope he will come to after a little while

@jaytabke514 he might just be a little nervous about parenting a newborn among other concerns he might not be comfortable talking about yet, after all its been some time for him and you two just found out. If hes willing to go with you, I'd try to bring it up again at your first ultrasound, maybe seeing the baby will bring him around a little more.

@leroydoom, I think maybe the first ultrasound will make him more excited and more real to him. I already love my Groot so so much. My first appointment made things so real!

I would talk to him. Like what can it hurt and my theory is communication is so key because they can’t read our minds and vice versa, so maybe he is excited just doesn’t know how to say it or what to say.

@kacysowell, you’re very right. I will try tonight and hopefully he is beginning to be a bit more accepting

My hubby is great with kids. Loving, understanding, playful I couldn’t wait to make him a dad. When I finally got pregnant yeah he was happy, wanted the baby but I could tell he wasn’t “as excited as me” he didn’t care to talk about names, help me decorate or pick out items or clothes etc. I even got seriously worried that he regretted trying at some points hell, he didn’t even see the point in going to ultrasounds. But now she’s here and she’s his world and he’s totally obsessed with her and would ruin anyone who even made her frown. Like others said it’s harder for men to flip into that parental mode even when we know they are capable. “A woman becomes a mother at conception, a man becomes a father when he holds his child in his arms for the first time.” Its frustrating and sometimes nerve racking but it’s totally possible he just needs time

Also some men are afraid to get excited in case something happens bad happens which is also normal
