My family is toxic.

.why would I name my kids after people that have done more damage to me than good?

Besides I dont like any of their names nor the idea.

My daughters middle name is after my MIL last name. (She has one of those last names that can be first names lol) I did it because my MIL has been there for me more than my parents have

Because most of them are names like Buma, Berta, Patsy, Frank, Harold. But a lot of people do. My family pass down middle names. It is just personal preference.

Because my families names are old sounding and none of them are there for us except my grandmother.

@babyjay27, yeah I think it’s just a personal decision. I don’t like the idea of naming after people, so all my kids will have their own names. But my hubbys family is all about it (its kind of cultural for them too) so all my nieces and nephews are named after older family members

Who said people don't name their kids after family members? My twin named her daughter after my dad's mother and I named my son after my dad's father.

Are you asking why people do not name their child after family? No one says they have to 🤷🏽‍♀️ You can name them whatever you want! My daughters not named after anyone
