We get 2 adjoining rooms

@squishymommy1, this might be a dumb question so forgive me. Is that like two separate hotel room rentals with a door adjoining them, or is there a such thing as renting a larger room that adjoins as a larger room of sorts?

You could rent a whole house using AirBnB or a vacation home company. That's pretty popular in beach locations, and can accommodate a lot of people.

@oddie, both! Depending on the hotel. Usually you’ll only have 2 rooms that are adjoined by that center door that you see between them. But some hotels have condo style rooms with multiple bedrooms.

@klazaro, in this case we are just going for a weekend so I was thinking a hotel might be easier and more affordable. If I’m paying for two rooms, maybe not though!

I second @haslberry, AirBNB would be perfect for a big family. Also, most of the time these are cheaper than getting multiple hotel rooms

You might want to invest in a small camper. Most beaches have camp grounds. We have a pop up that has two queens plus a pull out. We went to an rv show and there are bigger ones. Or drivable ones. If you rent hotel rooms a lot financially it would make sense to buy one. You could finance one for a few hundred a month depending on how big of one you get. And if I remember correctly you live near where I used to in Az so it’s can be pretty much used year round.

@bigmama18, are you able to camp in a tent? A camper is definitely something to consider but we love tent camping preferably.

I def recommend renting a condo or vacation home. It would be about the same as a hotel if not cheaper.

Edit- they usually have them on the beach as well so you could walk instead of drive.

How long will you stay? Most vacation rentals have a two night minimum. But if you’ll be there that long, it’s amazing! We just rented a house on the beach for Easter and it was so great! Definitely look into it.

I was wondering this myself. When we recently went away- I booked a 1 bedroom suite knowing the baby would be in our bed. I put in every guest in the room and ages. When I went to check in, they said we can’t have 5 people in room. I told her I put everyone’s into the rental info and it told me no such thing or we would have rented a house as it was cheaper. I asked what families do and she said rent two rooms. So I asked if she had adjoining rooms and she said no. So I said “bull shit. You’re telling me parents either split up or put their kids in a room alone?!?” My parents were vacationing with us so when I told her we’d put one of the kids in their room she said they’d “overlook it” for us 🙄

I agree with renting a vacation home. I’ve done it several times and have never had any problems whatsoever. What I love about it is the convenience of having a kitchen. We saved money by cooking breakfast and lunch and eating out at a restaurant for dinner.

We love VRBO.com and have stayed at about 5-7 places. Always read reviews. We are doing a VRBO in Seattle this fall!

Some owners really put a lot into making their VRBOs over the top nice

We always rent a condo. You can get them up to 4 bedrooms or get a 2 bedroom with bunks in the hallway and a pullout couch. We’ve rented nice 2 bedroom condos for the same price as some of the hotels we’ve stayed in.
