Okay maybe one of you ladies can help me I'm new in the TTC world my first happened completely unplanned.
So I just got my first period since getting pregnant today what are some ways I should be tracking for ovulation. I have my old cycles tracked on an app so I'm planning on using those averages now to give me a rough estimate on how my cycles will be this time around. My average cycle before I got pregnant AND was on the birth control pill 28 days with my predicted ovulation on the 15th day. When should I start taking the ovulations tests. Any other forms of tracking/ tests I should do? Also I'm currently not on any form of birth control now so who knows how accurate anything I just said is. Any tips on TTC would be really helpful TIA.
@girlygirl1988 is right. Your length before being pregnant isn’t really helpful. My cycle was 31 days pre pregnancy and now (I’ve had my period for 6 cycles) it is 40 days each time. Annoyingly long because we are TTC but I get positive ovulation tests so that’s promising. I’d buy a big pack of those cheap ones and start testing after your period until you get a positive.
I always start my ovulation tests at day 7- I’ve found it best to take them around 2:00pm or so
I buy the digital ovulation tests though- I could never get the hang of the strips! LOL!
Track your temp before you even get out of bed in the morning
@chloelee101, you have to take you temp first thing in morning before getting out of bed, same time. I take mine at 6am. If you are off on time by 1hr-30m it's ok, you can do an adjustment which the calculator can be found online. I temp from CD5 to 3 days past ovulation (3 days after is confirmation) then I stop temping because honestly temps after that have no meaning.
I think your old averages won’t really matter for a while . Your period will probably be a little irregular for a while . I’d start taking ovulation tests on like CD 7 with cheapie strips . Generally the ovulation strips you can get on like amazon require you do them like afternoon . Once you start getting closer you can do the strips afternoon and evening ( even three times if you are afraid you might miss your LH surge ) . A positive test on a strip means both lines are at least AS dark or the test line is darker than the control line ( the test line will be the one closest to where you dipped the stick) . A lot of women see the line close to as dark and think it’s positive ... it’s not, but that usually means you are getting very close and should test again a little while later . Once you get a positive test, you’ve gotten a surge of the hormone that causes ovulation meaning you will be ovulating in 12-36 hours ( most is closer to like 24-36 hours so make sure you get to baby dancing shortly after your positive ovulation test. General TTC advice ... take a prenatal daily and manage your stress. A lot of ladies that get wrapped up in the stress of TTC fail to conceive and once they “stop trying” they get pregnant easily . Stress causes a hormonal response , so do something to manage your stress like exercise and you should be good to go !! Good luck and tons of baby dust !!
Start ovulation tests at CD8. Also, track cervical mucus. Track how you're feeling, or if you feel cramps etc. You will probably start to see patterns and indications of ovulation is near. You could also temp, this helps confirm ovulation which the ovulation tests don't do.
