Help me decide yall. So I applied to nursing school. The adn is 2 years. The bsn is 2 and summer semester. I can't decide between them. I could get my bsn with just an extra semester and do an extra class or two along with all the other regular classes for the other program which is already extremely fast paced and hard as it is. I'm frankly not sure if I am ready for it or if it would be any good to get it done already vs get my adn then go back and get my bsn.

My other main dilemma is my son just had a spot open up for him at this AMAZING daycare/preschool. It's literally the best in town. But the hours may conflict with my school some days. Granted I will know well ahead of time but still. Now I could have my grandma drop him off but that's about it. I can't miss any school days or be late. There is another average school that has longer hours that may have a spot but that's a huge if and it's not as good of a school. Still good reviews and all though.

I frankly don't know what to do. My son is 2 and I'm so conflicted. I really want him in the first daycare. So bad yall. The second I wouldnt have to worry about times as much but idk if they for sure have a spot.
Not only that. I really want to get my degree done and over with but is it worth being so busy and not having time for anything else? Is it worth passing an amazing school for one that has better hours? Im frankly balancing my sons schooling for mine and I feel like his is more important.

BSN. It’s a requirement in some places & often can mean higher pay.

@whoswhoo yea that's why I'm leaning towards the second because of the times I won't have to worry as much. I could still drop and pick him up. I wish I knew someone in town that could take him for that hour before it opens and take him but I don't even know anyone and don't trust anyone with him lol.
The school is 30 minutes from home so that's what makes everything so complicated. I could find a daycare in my home town but that means I can't drop off pick up or be close at all to him. Course I can't miss any school anyway so I guess it doesn't matter. But my grandma isn't always reliable so I don't think I could do that.
It's all so frustrating lol

Dang, yeah you’re gonna have to have a good child care set up. It helped when my son went to daycare while my SO worked so I could go to class or do school work.

@whoswhoo not really. I only have my husband and he's rarely home and really doesn't help a lot when he is.
My grandma tries but she's dealing with her own health issues and can't do a whole lot.
Otherwise I'm on my own.

A BSN will become the standard requirement. With it not being but a short time difference (although more difficult) it would definitely be worthwhile going through with it all in one setting. I juggled 21 credits my last semester of my BS in Engineering. Was well worth it to be able to graduate on time and with a higher degree level.

You’re gonna need some extra support. Is your family or his willing to help? Homework’s gonna be tough and so is school work. I got my teaching degree but I’d imagine nursing is way harder. @mmmcano,

@whoswhoo yea that's why I'm iffy cause I'm ready to start working and be done with school for a little while. We're getting a new house and everything that goes along with that. My husband works at least 12 hours a day with very few off so it would still be me doing everything mostly or more so not doing anything due to homework.

It was worth it for me. I missed a lot, but my SO picked up my slack and was a supportive partner. I felt like I missed out on a lot of family get togethers and whatnot, but it’s worth having a career and being able to support myself and help with bills, groceries, etc.

@mmmcano, she got I guess adn whatever your nursing degree is. Now her job wants her to have her BSN by 2020 so she’s doing her BSN. It use to be 1 year then extended it to like 3 years

Do the extra semester to get your BSN most places require it. My moms doing her BSN now and it’s like 3 years!
