Does anyone know if you can pump colostrum before baby’s born and store it?

Yes, I believe you can freeze it for 6 months x

@carlybeanw, do you know wether or not you can take the storage pouches into the hospital with you? I’ll be giving her the first feed from breast but bottles after so if I pump now I’ll want to take them with me for her x

I’d start doing it after 37 weeks as nipple stimulation *can* cause you to go into labour x

@mummyroo91, I would only have a week or so to do it hun because midwife and doctors have advised not to go to 40 weeks and over with this baby due to previous miscarriages and complications so I just wanted to know if I could store colostrum before going into hospital x

Yea I think I’d still give it a miss until after 37. Only because nipple stimulation can put you into labour. When I had my other babies though I did manage to breastfeed and still get a decent amount pumped. I pumped more actually to get my milk going xx

@mummyroo91, nipple stimulation only works if your body is ready to go into labour hun. I’ll be speaking to my midwife at my next appointment anyway so I’ll see what she says x

Yea just check in with her 😊 hopefully she gives you the go ahead. I’m not 100% on this. Just what I’ve seen on other forums xx
