Anybody attended any antenatal classes? We've booked ourselves into one. Mainly for something…

I did them with my first & found them pointless. They didn't offer any help when it came to birth as it will more facts about birth rather then what I expected it to be - kinda like what you see on tv, the birthing classes. But it was just sitting down for an hour listening to what the midwife was saying. There was no social side, the people there were a lot older then me & everyone kept to themselves x

@carlybeanw That sounds like my worst nightmare. I've a short attention span 😂 I was hoping for help with my birthing plan and hospital bag and things like that. I was thinking they'd help you prepare for everything. I couldn't sit there through a load of rambling on 😣 x

@ezchaz that was my main reason for booking us in, to get him involved and for something to do. I'll still go to it for that reason. Would have been nice to have somebody go over everything with us more individually though xx

I have attempted to go to 2 of my antenatal classes and bith times the person who runs the class has not shown up. It is dishartening x

@kiri.k.t8 Omg. I'd be livid if that happened to me. The place I'm going is pretty far out so the waste of fare would really wind me up. Make a complaint about it. That's not on xx

@clarelushx They be different in your area, plus that was almost 10 years ago. I remember going and by the end of it my back killed & I'd learnt nothing that I hadn't all ready read up on x

@carlybeanw @abbiehowe8 that's so dissapointing to hear. They should make something more engaging or take on board some feedback because I'm sure most expecting mothers are after similar help and guidance on certain topics xx

@clarelushx we was both fuming as it is a long walk up hill to get to the place where the classes was xx

I did them with my first and they didn’t help at all. I wanted to know how to change a nappy, give a bath, all the stuff you’d need to know with a newborn as I’d never been around a baby before. But all they focused on was breastfeeding. I literally didn’t learn a thing.x

@surraya1983 I'm the same. Never been around any babies at all. Totally clueless about everything and my boyfriend is pretty much the same too. Makes it all a bit daunting. Really surprised they don't help you with the basics. Breastfeeding information is plastered everywhere as it is. I watched a video clip about latching on a screen whilst waiting for a scan at the hospital... much rather know about giving birth, what to expect, how to care for a newborn, things I may need, how to keep baby safe, what's normal and what's not with a newborn, ect ect. These things could be so much better xx
