I've been trying to get holiday at work leading upto my maternity which starts on the 14th of next month. Normally they want two weeks in advance but I was hoping they'd allow me to take it asap as I've been calling in sick a lot the last week or so with all the pregnancy symptoms (mainly diarrhea, defo worth calling in over). It's not fair on my team leaving them a person down when they could be rotating a different person in to replace me. I've mentioned adding holidays several times now and it's falling on deaf ears. I'm going in tonight and hopefully they'll listen to me :/ if not I'm going to try get my midwife to ring them and explain it's all getting a bit too much now 😓

Get a sick note from your doctor. I have for last 4 weeks - this weekend would have been my final before I leave. My work agreed it wasn't safe for me to work but they couldn't give me holiday to cover the 4 weeks. I was signed off for 2 weeks and during that time was hospitalised 3 times so they put me down as unfit for work. Hopefully they will agree to holiday, if not doctors note x

@carlybeanw I'm owed three weeks of holiday which I've been saving all pregnancy. There's only about 2 weeks leading upto my mat leave date so I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem to let me take them, especially in the condition I'm in. I'll ask tonight and see what they say but I think getting a doctors note might be a good idea. They can't really ignore that x

If you get a doctors note it will start your mat leave early. You won’t get paid sick pay it will switch straight to maternity pay I believe. You are entitled to annual leave and if you won’t be returning before April then they have to give it you before you go off x

@clairebob216 @carlybeanw Spoke to my boss yesterday. Basically what he's done is already added my holidays to start on the mat date I got given 14/6. Which would extend my 6 weeks full pay maternity. He also said that if I decide to stay off now, I wouldn't get paid because my holidays have been marked down but I'm more than welcome too... I just can't afford too :/ x

@clarelushx with a doctor's note they have to pay you sick pay. I would do that. There's no point being in work if you are unable to the job properly. It would become a risk for you, baby & anyone your working with x
