13 Reasons Why watchers: I need some discussion, specifically about the last 10-15minutes of it. I was really disappointed. Anyone else?

I haven’t watched the second season and I won’t. I know my limits. The 1st season put me in a real dark place. I understand the awareness they’re trying to spread however young kids are very impressionable. I feel like even the warning at the beginning don’t matter to some because they are desensitized and think oh whatever it’s fine I’ll watch it. Or they watch it because all their friends watch it. I know two young teenagers who have attempted suicide after watching this show. One was successful. And I know a parent of a young teenager who also attempted suicide after watching it. The one I know personal who lived said this show made them want to get revenge on the people who hurt them. They wanted to make them feel like shit knowing they had killed themselves because of the bullying. That’s not the message they need. And the directors can’t control how everyone reacts to the show. It’s sad all around. I don’t think younger kids teenaged and children should not watch this show. The parent I know who’s teenager attempted was horrified but she literally forced her kid to watch it to spread awareness. And that’s all the wrong reasons.

@thisisfeeney, I completely agree with you . It’s not something the kids should watch and even season two kind of hint to it’s okay to react in away to bring a gun to school and they irony is the kid who hurt him wasn’t even there and that’s what happen in most of these cases . The kid who is actually doing the hurting is not affected but innocent ones suffer.

Omg so I finished it last night and omg that scene in the bathroom made me sick to my stomach. I heeded your warning ladies but I still wasn’t prepared. I hate the way the season ended too. I think it’s bs that Brice and the baseball team got away with everything they did. How was Brice not charged with others rape?! Like Hannah’s? I guess there wasn’t any evidence. Poor Tyler he was left all alone. Left out of the group. That’s why he was going to shoot up the school. I love that clay stopped him. I’m sure they have to make another season right?! Or do u think it’s over? I also was crying my eyes out at Hannah’s funeral. When clay was speaking. I love that kid.

@tennesseehawk, I watched the first season because I had read the book and from there I was just curious about the second season. If they were to continue with a third (which I think they will) I don’t think I could watch anymore. I agree with you about “bringing awareness” and about pulling into a dark place. I don’t how some people are letting their kids watch it.

I had to stop watching during season 1. It was all a little too much for me. And then reading about the bathroom scene just solidified my decision to stop watching. Some may not agree with me, but I feel like this show is romanticizing suicide and bullying but trying to cover it up by saying it’s “bringing awareness” I just think it’s an all over terrible show. Made me feel like i was sinking into a dark place, and unfortunately that’s an easy thing for me to do when I see something that bothers me. I think people watching this show should watch with extreme caution. I hate not finishing a series I’ve started, but I think this was the best decision for me.

A big part of me feels like the end had a lot to do with them trying to set it up for a possible 3rd Season...? As if they threw in all of this crazy stuff in there just so that they have things for a show next season 🤷

I finished it and I’m pissed. The baseball team and Bryce got away too easily. And I knew the girl took the box of pictures. Why? Idk it could have helped all the other girls who were raped. My heart broke for Tyler though. The ending I agree was annoying.

@ss3mom, watch the last episode with extreme caution. Around the very middle of the episode. I wish I had never watched it made me physically sick.

I just finished it last night and the bathroom scene completely caught me off guard. I didn't think it would be so graphic and I felt like I was going to throw up. I had to take a break and get myself together before I finished. I felt like the ending was just kind of blah. Happy they were able to prevent a shooting but the fact that they let Tyler get away was rough. He needs help.
I was disappointed to see the football team didn't completely get what they deserved but I hope more happens in season 3. Bryce's character completely disgusts me, especially when he described Hannah's rape to his mother.
Now that I'm finished the season I feel pretty much emotionally drained.

@thisisfeeney, I agree with u. The first season kind of messed me up a little. I’m watching the second season now so I can’t read this thread because I don’t want to see any spoilers. I def don’t think teens or preteens should be watching the show alone. They should be watching with their parents. It’s sad that the show has had many young kids attempting and going through with suicide. If I watched it as a teen it would actually do the opposite for me. It would make me feel better knowing that I wasn’t the only person going though some of the things I went through in high school. I was made fun of for having short hair. As silly as that sounds it really hurt my feelings. I was called a “dyke” because I had really short hair. It was very hurtful. Kids and teens especially can be so hurtful and they don’t even realize it or they just don’t care. That’s why especially with social media we MUST pay attention to what our kids are seeing and saying. I wanna make sure I teach my children to be kind to those I need or those that don’t have a lot of friends.

@mamabird228, Most people have been talking about the bathroom scene but being just a week since the Santa Fe shooting here in Texas that really struck a cord and I just didn’t like how that situation went down at the end. yes I understand that they didn’t want their friend to do something like that but if a person has already gone to that dark point where they were considering such a thing then the proper authorities needed to take care of it, why let him get away?

I just finished, and i literally lost my breath, felt like I was going to throw up, that was awful, I felt so bad for him, and hope a season three is ahead because Montgomery should get what he deserves. I actually thought he would eventually do the right thing but no coming back from what he did.
