It’s that season again and I can’t remember which bug spray do I need to get for my 2 1/2 yr old?…

I prefer without for my family. We use EcoSmart

@laniejay, okay thanks yeah I can’t remember last year what they said to get and we are going to a birthday party tomorrow and there’s woods I get nervous with bugs and especially ticks

You can use deet over 2 months of age.

I’ve also heard ticks are bad this year so be careful.

@glencoco, yeah I’m so nervous about that that’s why I wanna run out today to grab some I just don’t know which one is best with or without DEET?

I think with would be stronger. If you read the can it should tell you what it protects against. They also have wipes instead of spray which I like better for kids.

For ticks at least if you get a goodsize spray bottle and fill it with water then add 20-30 drops each of lemongrass oil and eucalyptus oil ticks HATE it! It's safe to spray on kids and pets and it smells good

We like BabyGanics insect repellent for our son.

@countrymusic_mama, eucalyptus is NOT safe for kids that young. If should not be used under 6 and extremely diluted until 10. Since it’s not FDA regulated, it’s best to avoid until 10.

@laniejay I wasn't aware of that thank you, I've only ever used it on myself and my nephews who are all older. But I've been told by one of my Drs that it's ok. I'll have to talk to him more about it.

@countrymusic_mama, speak with an aromatherapist before using EOs. Most mainstream doctors are not versed in them. Peppermint oil is another big no no that appears in many big sprays. It’s a shame we can’t trust manufacturers.

@laniejay I go to my naturopath and my sister in law who are well educated with EO's. I know there are ones that shouldn't be used with children but didn't know eucalyptus was one of them. I don't use eucalyptus for anything but the tick spray so I haven't had to worry about it.
