Invited to a friend's mom's birthday party — and assigned $15 of meat and an 18-pack of beer

That's so strange to me!

Huh?? You have to bring food and drinks to a party that you are invited to.

I’d say “no thanks! Have a nice party!”

I would go depending on the situation, and how close I was to them. But I wouldn’t be taking a gift that’s for sure!

That is bizarre to me! Not even a potluck, just assigned items... I'd be inclined to not attend.

@dee2115, he’s my husbands boss tho& usually what they asked for today is nothing compared to other times. They usually ask for Capri sun, 12 pack of soda, $20 meat & beer for my little family of 3.

How would a person even have the balls to ask that?

If it’s a family member we might offer to bring something to help out. But never been asked to. That’s weird!

That’s the argument I have with my husband he said it’s ok. I tell him how is it possible for someone to invite you to their moms surprise party & tell you to bring certain things. If you offer it’s different.

I always ask if anything is needed. I don’t mind picking up a dessert item or a 6 pack of beer if hubby is drinking but that’s just too far.

We usually do Pot luck type gatherings or everyone pitches in for drinks but uhhmm don't demand I bring food AND money!!! Tf? I can do that at my own house🙄

@phoebesmommy I don't facking eat crawfish, I wouldn't be able to do it🤢! The only thing that comes in it is shrimp, blue crab, corn and potatoes in a garlic butter sauce with their house seafood seasoning. It's not old bay, it's sooo good and addictive.
