Wash EVERYTHING!!!! Walls, carpets, cabnits, floors, window, and frames, a fresh coat of paint will help if you wash first. Cut some apples in half and leave out also some baking soda in dishes around. Spread baking soda into the carpets and let it sit a few hours and vaccume up. Thrown the dust outside immediately. Keep windows open as much as possible let as much natural light in as well. You may have to repeat the cleaning a few times to make sure it's all completely clean of all the chemicals left behind.

P.s. my Gma was a professional house cleaned and this is what she always did it took about a week but after several cleanings and a LOT of baking soda you'd never know anyone smoked in the house.

I hope you get it out so you can all live comfortably. I'd ask if your rent that the landlords pay to either professionally clean the carpets or replace theme. Espically if you or a family member has allergies or asthma.
