I put one in for the same reason. They aren’t very thick and keeps my leather from getting trashed. The car seat itself is tight and secure even with it

Yes! We use seat covers in our vehicles, leather ones that wipe down easily.

Some car seat manufacturers don't allow anything to go between the car seat and the regular seat. What brand car seat do you have?

Check your manual, many do not allow them. And even when it has a manufacturer name on it and says crash tested- guess what? That doesn’t mean for those car seats. For instance, Chicco sells one that says crash tested- yet you cannot use one with Chicco seats. It simply means you can use it with seats that approve of them in their manuals.

So you are concerned about the back of the seat? I've seen some recommend using an old t shirt for he back of the seat ( like this - https://23ejf145mpkj40crs82u74e9-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/image.jpeg ). You can contact safety first or Car Seats For The Littles on FB and ask them.

You do not need to to uninstall your car seat. Just slide the shirt on the seat at the foot of the car seat.
