Would you let your children in the delivery room during delivery?

Why or why not?

Definitely not. For 1 so much is going on that it would be hard to concentrate on delivering your baby with your other children wondering around and secondly I wouldn't want my kids to watch me in that pain! lol just my personal opinion

I was considering it with my two, 11 & 8 year old, but I wouldn’t want my kids to see me in pain. I don’t want them to see what’s going on down there either and my son would freak out, lol! I would have them come after baby’s born.

Yeah I know it’s not always the same but still I wouldn’t want to risk him being traumatized with all the stuff that goes on and I wouldn’t want him being scared, it’s just too much for a child to see, but after I’m dressed and cleaned up then he can come visit, I think it’ll be hard for me when I have another baby because I’ve never been away from my son for more then an hour so that’ll be extremely hard for me

My 5 year old will be with me. He and his dad will be running for the ice chips and stuff. I don't do epidural and I was calm and quiet. I didn't yell or swear. I'm betting some of my time there will be some night hours so my son can probably get Comfy and sleep or color wile I labour and walk around the room. When it's time to push it's fairly quick and he can stand with dad at my head counting. If something goes wrong them I'm sure a nurse or dad would take him to his half teenage brother who also wants to be there but would rather wait in family room lol thank goodness. I've talk to my son lots about how it hurts and it's just hard to talk during contractions but I'm ok. Ive also mentioned how baby comes out a hole only mommys have that stretches for baby to come out and only Drs and nurses can look down there cuz it's a privet part. It was his idea to be there for when the baby comes. So all I'm doing is preparing him for it. So if all goes well I'll hold the baby for he first time with my first born right on the edge of bed also holding baby. I can't imagine not having both my kids in my arms any that time Now that we have talked about it lots.

@amberjacq, it’s not always the same! My first born I was in labor 38 hours. My second son 10 hours! Regardless if I allow my oldest to be in the room (which probably not) I’ll def let them come see their sister once she’s here.

@sabby, relatable af!!! I had a nurse in the room with me with my first born I called her every name under the son. “Don’t tell me how to breathe you stupid fucking bitch!!” And she was there for my second son too and I guess I was saying the same shit to her 😅😅

No I wouldn’t let my son be at the hospital at all lol 😂 I was in labor for hours with my son so it would just be best for him to stay with his grandparents

@brittnylynntorres, lol I definitely traumatized my husband so I can’t imagine how a child would do with it 😂

@leslyev92, I’m on edge for the same reasons! My oldest son freaked out being away from me for two days when his brother was born and keeps asking to be with me. Maybe I’ll let him stay in the hospital after delivery lol

You know I would love to, but I’m having a section. My kids are small tho but I would love to have them right there with me through it all, but I think that also a natural delivery would be too much of an impact on them, plus I’d imagine pushing a baby out of my vag would probably make me curse too much and they’d totally remember all that lol

@tacos4lyfe, I didn’t even think about that. I have two sons I delivered natural and also screamed and cursed at everyone around me. That’d probably traumatize him alone! Lol

Plus is something goes wrong I wouldn’t want them around for that.

Personally I wouldn’t just because I screamed my head off last time and I wouldn’t want to traumatize them 😂

I feel like it is the same reason why kids are not present while you conceive the baby. There are many other ways to explain your kids about the whole process of birth. No offense.. it might be a different story when you have no choice.

@brittnylynntorres yeah i feel the same! If I had no choice then I'd ask my SO to sit in the waiting room with them or even wait at home. I just think they're so small still lol

@brittnylynntorres, yes it’s a movie that use to be on Netflix. I googled it yesterday and you can watch it free on other websites.

@mrsking13, curious if that is a movie or something? Experiencing same questions from my 6 year old son.

I’ve never wanted to have any of our children in the room. Our 5 year old has been asking a lot of questions and asking to be there when her sister is born. I want to watch business of being born with her first to see if this is something she really wants. Even then I’m still not sure if I will let her.

But I’ve seen other people do it and when my sister in law delivered back in Jan she had her 11 year old son with her.

I’d prefer not but we might be delivering out of state and then we’d have no choice to have our daughter with us

@sjo1, I completely agree! My six year old son asked to be in the room with me and I snapped at him “no!” But I feel bad. I just think it’d be so overwhelming for myself.
