Doppler Help...

10 weeks, just got my doppler in today. I know when the doctor does my ultrasound he is always on my ride side, so that is where I started at but I only heard my heart beat loud and clear but did not hear not even my heart beat on the left side? So the heart beat of mine on the right, is that heart beat bc of my placenta is pumping my blood for the baby? Am I doing it right???
