Real Contractions?

Do real contractions make you feel like you have to pee and/or poop? I have been having period like cramps all day long with lower back pain and the urge to go to the bathroom but when I go nothing really comes out. Sorry I know this is TMI but I'm honestly not sure. They don't feel like my usual BH and crampiness.
