And sometimes your heart breaks a little ?

It finally happened... I broke down and cried on my way back from the NICU nursery. I couldn't contain myself any longer, it's hard and so sad to know your baby is having a hard time on his own and there's nothing you can do to help him. He's still fighting to breathe and they had to turn his oxygen up again. He's back on the feeding tube and just so irritable and uncomfortable. I know he's struggling and I can see the pain in his facial expressions. I wish there was something I could do to comfort him and ease his pain, but all I can do is be here. I only got to hold him for 5 minutes when he was first born and than they took him away. I never thought I would have to experience something like this and it's so heartbreaking. It's so hard looking at him, knowing that even when I touch him or place my hand upon him that he is very uncomfortable.
