When I first met oh over ten years ago, I had both my grannies and he had a granny and granda. We now only have his granda left. He's been terminally ill since easter, but the nurses today now say he has hours left. My kids love their great granda, especially my nearly 3 year old. We took them to see him earlier and they didn't really recognise him, it was heartbreaking. Dd1 said 'granda can't give me a tiss' & I've been trying to explain to her that he's going to have a big sleep soon and then he'll feel better and be a big star in the sky. She's a bright child and seems to understand something isn't right. Dh is over there at the moment and dd1 said 'dada's away to see if granda's feeling better'. Every time I talk to her I end up in bits. My heart is breaking for them :(
