Are you kidding me?

So we have these stands all over town offering free phones. Lot of the time they ask if I'm interested and I say no and move on with my day. Well today I got asked if I wanted one. I said no like always. Then the lady goes "well you may qualify if you're considered low income" I then tell her I'm not. She then goes " it must be nice to be that lucky and how I have it so much better. Mind you she had attitude in her voice at this point.... I was pretty taken back. My income isn't luck. My husband and I bust our butts to make ends meet. Together before taxes we make $4500 a month. We also live in cali so really it only looks like a lot. She was making it seem I was somehow saying I was better then others. Soo far from the truth because I've been on gov assistance. When dh lost his 70k a year job because the company went under. We where on it for a year but got off the second we where able to make ends meet. That was over 8 years ago before the free phone program. So I know the struggle and how much programs like this help greatly. I'm the last person to ever look down on a person needing that extra help. Just found it rude to make such a snide comment all because I don't qualify for something I don't need. After her comment I just said okay and went on to finish my shopping. Mind you this was at the 99 cent store so obviously I'm not rolling high on the hog. Lol.. This is really just a rant. I'm still shaking my head at the "must be lucky" like I just get money given to me and wear a shirt saying I'm better then you and your free phone. But in her eyes I might as well of been. Anyone else ever had something like this happen? What would you have done?
